Pompeii @ KUTX 12.8.14

This year Pompeii is celebrating their return from a five year hiatus with the release of a new album.

Founded in 2004, the Austin-based indie post rock quartet has forged a signature sound of weaving delicate ambient openings into large dynamic crescendos. Pompeii’s first two albums Assembly (2006) and Nothing Happens for a Reason (2008) garnered much attention from film and television placements, and have given the band exposure across the globe. Pompeii has received international attention and critical acclaim from outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, The Chicago Tribune, American Songwriter Magazine, Filter, NPR, Apple, and MTV for their recordings and performances.

The band is back from a five year hiatus with their third and most striking record to date, LOOM. Often compared to the likes of My Bloody Valentine to Sigur Rós and Mogwai, the band’s atmospheric and effects driven sound still remains their own. The foursome has also enlisted the help of the Tosca String Quartet to round out their unique melodious sound on LOOM, resulting in a stirring, symphonic and poignant effort.

You can catch Pompeii on Friday, January 9th at the Blackheart or stream them right here at KUTX!
