One-man band Possessed by Paul James (real name: Konrad Wert) is one of a kind, to say the least. The singer/songwriter/musician extraordinaire grew up in southern Florida, but made his home right here in Austin for a time. He plays a variety of string instruments, including banjo, guitar, and fiddle, and his music explores the genres of folk and blues, with a bit of punk thrown in from time to time. He was the subject of a 2008 documentary called “The Folk Singer,” which followed him as he toured from Texas to Louisiana to raise money for his then-unborn child. His career may have been low-key throughout the years, but he has a loyal following, likely a result of his captivating, enchanting, and foot-stomping shows that are a certainly must-watch.
