Preoccupations 10.21.16

Formerly known as Viet CongPreoccupations bring the glory of late 80’s/early 90’s post-punk back with their latest self-titled album.  With half the band consisting of ex-members of legendary Canadian art rock band Women, Preoccupations takes the playful, but complex structure that they were known for, and filters it through a brooding and gothic atmosphere.  Mike Wallace’s drums beat down upon you, while Matt Flegel’s bass plucks and vocals pierce right through your emotions and Scott Munro’s and Daniel Christiansen’s guitar notes provide just the right amount of joy.  Songs like “Memory” take you right back to the angst of 1986, without making the nostalgia seem like something that was co-opted as a gimmick by a clothing store. Dust off your old Jesus and Mary Chain shirt and check out our Studio 1A session with them below, and you can also catch their show at the Mohawk tonight!
