Rhett Miller @ KUTX 06.12.2015

Over the years Texas-native Rhett Miller has delivered a steady stream of lyrical wit and melodic ease.

A highly prolific musician and part of alt-country mainstays Old 97’s, Rhett Miller has released six solo albums to date and his writings have been published in various online outlets as well. Miller’s solo work as a singer-songwriter has a light and steady touch, his confessional pop turns forming a trail of love stories both catchy and jagged. Most recently he released The Traveler, his first record following Old 97’s brash rocker Most Messed Up, culled from his songs that went unused for the band. Miller worked with Portland folk outfit Black Prairie, as well as R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey for the album, resulting in a rich collection of textured tracks comfortably dwelling somewhere between folk, pop, and rock with a slight twang and occasional off-kilter hook accompanying his lyrical  honesty and simply sweet melodies.
