On his upcoming album, TEXAS, Houston native and songwriting legend Rodney Crowell returns to his Lone Star roots with a collection of Texas-centric songs and an all-star cast of featured performers.

Interestingly it all started with Ringo Starr who, through a mutual friend, let me know he was keen to record a track,” Crowell says. “Before I knew it, Lee Ann Womack, Ronnie Dunn, Willie Nelson, Randy Rogers, Lyle Lovett, and Vince Gill had climbed on board. Ray Kennedy and I took hold of the production reins, enlisted a cast of bad ass musicians and voilá, TEXAS was born. Man, was it a fun record to make.

That level of enthusiasm from some of the biggest names in rock ‘n’ roll and country music tells you just how important Crowell is to contemporary American music. To top off his Texas bona fides Crowell will be inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage, TX on August 10th. TEXAS is set for an August 15th release on his own imprint, RC1 Records. Listen to his recent session in Studio 1A for a sneak peek at some of the new tunes!
