Ruby Jane at KUTX 8.6.13

Ruby Jane Smith may be just 18 years old, but the singer, songwriter, guitar player, and fiddle player is nationally known as a prodigy in her own right. She has accomplished things that musicians twice her age can only dream of, including performances at Lollapalooza, SXSW, and our own Austin City Limits Music Festival (twice!). She has also played and toured with Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and Billy Gibbons, to name a few. But wait, there’s more! At age 10, she became the youngest fiddle player to ever be invited on the Grand Ole Opry. Needless to say, her music is beautifully written, and her truly amazing and pure voice penetrates the soul.  The multiple-award-winner has recorded four CDs, and her most recent album, “Celebrity,” received glowing reviews.

Ruby Jane currently resides in Austin with her family, and we were excited for her and her famed fiddle to join us here in Studio 1A for a live performance on Tuesday, August 6th. You can also catch her at the Cactus Café on August 7th and at The Parish Underground on August 9th.
