Few contemporary Americana and roots rock artists have earned critical recognition in the way Ryan Bingham has.

Bingham’s first album Mescalito was produced by Black Crowes guitarist Marc Ford in 2007. The album showcased Bingham’s throaty style of singing, which earned praise from critics like Rolling Stones who compared his vocals to that of Steve Earle and Tom Waits despite his relatively young age. 2009’s Roadhouse Sun and 2010’s Junky Star were also well received, with Junky Star reaching #17 on the US Country charts.

After collaborating with T Bone Burnett on The Weary Kind, the theme song from the motion picture Crazy Heart, Bingham received the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song, a Critic’s Choice Award, and a Grammy Award in 2010. Bingham was also honored by the Americana Music Association, who declared him Artist of the Year and named The Weary Kind Song of the Year in 2010. In 2012 Bingham released his fourth album Tomorrowland, reaching the US Indie charts for the first time with a spot at #8. Just a few weeks ago, Bingham announced his fifth album, Fear and Saturday Night, is due for release on January 20th, 2015.

You can catch Ryan Bingham’s next stop on his national tour on Tuesday, November 11th at Holiday Mountain or stream him right here at KUTX!
