Like a lot of artists looking to fund a project, Austin singer/songwriter Shawnee Kilgore turned to a crowdfunding site to help pay for her last album, A Long and Precious Road. Not only did that call for support get her the money she needed, it also introduced her to her current collaborator and patron, acclaimed filmmaker Joss Whedon. His reward for backing her project was a personalized song written for him and he asked if she would like to write one together. “Big Giant Me” was the first of their collaborative efforts and would go on to be the first single from a six song EP of co-writes. Shawnee is celebrating the vinyl release of Shawnee Kilgore and Joss Whedon’s Back to Eden with a special show at the Cactus Cafe.
