Shearwater at KUTX 2.22.14

“A three-guitar assault, a double-drums blitzkrieg and a choirboy voice that howls like a child in Lord of the Flies” is how Shearwater has been described in Rolling Stone magazine. The local band is out with a new self-published album, Fellow Travelers, and started a tour of the West coast earlier this month. It’s the first time the band’s been on the road since touring for their last album, Animal Joy, which ended in 2011. While on tour, Shearwater will be selling an additional album of cover songs, Missing Islands: Demos and Outtakes 2007-2012. The record is a collection of cover songs in which all of the bands covered were invited to sing or play on the album (with the only stipulation being that they couldn’t play on their own song). Almost everyone rose to the occasion, including Chris from the Baptist Generals, Clinic, David Thomas Broughton, and Jenn from Wye Oak.
