Austin’s legendary band The Gourds’ Kevin Russell is making real American music.
Shinyribs has been bringing us a blend of “country-soul, swamp-funk and tickle” since Russell began performing under the name in 2006. Growing into a four-piece band including Keith Langford on drums, Jeff Brown on bass, Winfield Cheek on keys, and the Tijuana Train Wreck Horns, Shinyribs is full of laid back Texas sounds infused with Russell’s infectious spirit. Their second release, 2013’s Gulf Coast Museum was an Americana-soul hybrid watered with a sharp mix of melancholy and humor.
