Slaid Cleaves writes songs so full of emotion and nuance, his subjects come alive in the listener’s imagination. On his newest record, Ghost on the Car Radio, Cleaves used that skill to write some of the most gripping songs of his 25-year career. Local guitar slinger extraordinaire “Scrappy” Jud Newcomb lent his considerable talents both as producer and accompanist on the record and on-stage, including Slaid’s recent visit to Studio 1A. Slaid Cleaves celebrates the release of his new album with a show at Stateside Theatre Sunday, July 16.
