Austin’s own Slaid Cleaves has been called Americana’s best kept secret, and we couldn’t agree more. The rootsy singer-songwriter has called Austin his home since moving here from Maine about two decades ago. He’s currently releasing his newest album, “Still Fighting the War,” which has already received rave reviews, being described as an album proving he’s in the peak of his career. The record offers keen insights into human nature, and songs exploring themes of blue-collar and small-town life are mixed in with playful, tongue-in-cheek tunes, along with some good old-fashioned yodeling.
