Songbird Rising 4.18.16

Following the methods developed by legendary Japanese violinist, philosopher, and pedagogue Shinichi Suzuki, the Songbird Rising violin studio and summer string camp believes every child, and every adult for that matter, is capable of achieving high levels of musicianship regardless of any innate ‘talent.’

Laura and Asha Poyzer established Songbird Rising in 2010. Since then the string camp has grown from only 8 students, taught from their home in Hyde Park, Austin TX, to camps for 20 students running twice a year out of the beautiful Trinity United Methodist Church. Laura Poyzer’s violin studio has also grown to include a comprehensive curriculum of private lessons supported by group lessons and twice yearly recitals.

Some of Songbird Rising’s young students joined John Aielli in Studio 1A–listen to their session at the bottom of the page. You can also see them at Earth Day Festival this Saturday, April 23rd on the Field stage from 6:20-7pm.

Songbird Rising’s summer camp begins on June 20th and goes on to July 1st. The second camp begins July 11th and goes on to July 22nd.
