SPEAK @ KUTX 04.29.2015

Although Peter Gabriel, Blur, and Kanye West are cited as musical influences, Austin synth-pop group SPEAK manages to create an entirely original sound by blending contemporary pop, electronica, and art rock dreamily together.

SPEAK formed when high school friends Troupe Gammage (vocals/keys), Nick Hurt (guitars/vocals) and Jake Stewart (drums) joined Joey Delahoussaye (bass/vocals) in 2008. The group won the Austin Music Award for Best New Band in 2010, and went on to release their first studio album “I Believe in Everything” in 2011. Since then, SPEAK has performed numerous festivals including Austin City Limits, SXSW and Fun Fun Fun Fest; opened for the likes of Tegan and Sara as well as Weezer; and released a second studio album, “Pedals,” in 2014.

You can see SPEAK perform at the Pecan Street Festival this Saturday, May 2. You can also stream their music here at KUTX.
