Spencer Gibb 10.30.18

Spencer Gibb may hail from London but with nearly 30 years of living and gigging in Austin, he is most definitely part of the Austin music experience. Born into a family of musicians, Gibb took to the stage at an early age all while absorbing the sounds of Sam Cooke, Van Morrison, and Otis Redding. It’s those early influences that Gibb tapped into for his newest album, Let’s Start Over, which was co-produced by Aaron Frescas, features vocalist Kasi Painter as well as orchestral arrangements by Ludek Drizhal for The Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The new songs are full of classic R&B themes but trade heavy brass for softer more nuanced string arrangements highlighting Gibb’s distinctive voice and powerful songwriting. Listen to the full session below or catch him this Friday, November 2 at ACL Live.
