Spiral Stairs 6.15.17

Spiral Stairs’ second studio release has proven that good things come to those that wait. Spiral Stairs is the solo effort of Scott Kannberg, guitarist of Pavement and lead of Preston School of Industry, and his latest release, Doris and the Daggers, is some of his most personal and emotionally intense music to date. Eight years in the making, the album is inspired by Kannberg’s experiences during the interlude; most notably his move to Australia, and back to LA, having a child and the sudden death of drummer and friend Darius Minwalla. The result is an auto-biographical rock album where every track is a different story. Inspired by Australian singer/songwriter Paul Kelly, Kannberg tells sweetly melodic tales of the loss of friends, the joys of fatherhood and everything in between. These moody tracks are part garage rock, part indie and all fantastic. Spiral Stairs joined us in Studio 1A to sing some of his favourite tales. Check it out below!
