STRFKR 7.3.17

You’ll have to excuse our French because electronic trio STRFKR are back in Austin and we couldn’t be happier. Formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2008 by Josh Hodges, of Sexton Blake fame, the band has been through a handful of iterations before arriving at their current line-up. The indie-electro group are notorious for their anything-can-happen live performances; featuring wacky costumes, instrument swapping and stage diving. The last nine years have seen the boys adopt a more mature sound, while still maintaining the kinetic energy they’re famous for. Their latest release, Being No One, Going Nowhere, was written mainly by Hodges during his time exploring the Joshua Tree Desert. The album manages to blend emotionally loaded lyrics about the meaning of life with sugary pop hooks. The result is a melting pot of upbeat tunes and lyrical complexity; a vivacious dance soundtrack for your existential crisis. The boys brought their synths, their stories and themselves to Studio 1A. Be sure to check out the full session below!
