If you haven’t heard of Sunfower Bean yet NOW is the time. Described by Rolling Stone as “NYC’s Coolest Young Band”, this trio of 20-21 year olds show experience and creativity way beyond their age. Their music is a blend of brightly echoed guitars, metronomic rhythms, synthesizers and a balance of the celestial yet conversational vocals. It carries early elements of Sonic Youth-esque punk, pedal-oriented guitar dreaminess, 80’s pop, and heavy Black Sabbath riffing.Their latest album, Human Ceremony, was released in February from Fat Possum Records (Youth Lagoon, Adam Torres) and creates a wonderful trip through a heavenly space-driven world. Each song varies widely from the next, yet they group maintains their uniquely wonderful timbre. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear this young group bring their songs to life.

We were lucky over here at KUTX to have had Sunflower Bean drop by Studio 1A to play a few tracks and chat with our very own Trina Quinn. If you missed their sold out show at Stubb’s BBQ with Austin’s Tele Novella , then definitely be sure to check out their performance below!
