T. Hardy Morris @ KUTX 10.30.14

For nearly two decades, T. Hardy Morris has been exploring the reaches of psychedelic rock, alternative country, and grunge. You may be more familiar with the Augustus, Georgia band Dead Confederate, which Morris co-founded in 1997 as Redbelly and reformed under the new name in 2006. In addition to Dead Confederate, Morris has recently founded indie supergroup Diamond Rugs, a ragged group of rockers including members from Deer Tick, Los Lobos, and The Black Lips.

In light of these group projects Morris has taken the time to work on his own solo material and burrow into new sonic realms. Released this summer, Morris’ debut solo album Audition Tapes showcases Morris’ songwriting and performing talents that reflect the energetic sound of Dead Confederate and Diamond Rugs in some compositions, while demonstrating intimate and fragile performances in others. Morris is now preparing for an east coast tour to begin in November. Until then you can catch Morris’ time in KUTX’s Studio 1A by tuning into 98.9 today at 2:30!
