The Crookes KUTX 7.16.14

The Crookes, named after the suburb of Sheffield, U.K. which the indie rock band was formed in during 2008, have been praised for their excellent, almost novel-like lyrics while their style has been noted to have hints of The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian. Consisting of George Wait, Daniel Hopewell, Russell Bates and Tom Dakin, the band has received much adoration in the U.K. starting a Cult Underground following that likes to call themselves the “Bright Young Things”. The Crookes have also began to make themselves known and receive similar devotion in the U.S. by touring with Richard Hawley in the past and playing several packed to capacity shows at SXSW 2014. Continuing their rise in the American music scene, The Crookes will return this July to the states to tour for their new album, Soapbox. Along with a stop on the tour in Austin on July 16th at The Mohawk, The Crookes will stop into studio 1a for a live performance at 4pm the same day. Don’t forget to check them out!
