The Howlin’ Brothers at KUTX 10.24.13

Tonight, the Cactus Cafe will be full of foot-stomping and some good ol’ Americana sounds from The Howlin’ Brothers. This three-piece string band consists of Ben Plasse (on banjo, upright bass, and vocals), Ian Craft (on banjo, fiddle, and mandolin), and Jared Green (on guitar, harmonica, and vocals.)

These three have been playing music with each other since attending Ithaca College back in 2003. When they made the move to Nashville, Tennessee in 2005, they began to work on what would be their first self-released album. After releasing a few more albums, the trio met Brendan Benson. Benson, the owner of Readymade Records, took The Howlin’ Brothers into the studio and produced the band’s first national release, Howl. The Brothers explore rock, pop, gospel, Dixieland, and some Appalachian string band material in this latest album. They are ready to show Austin a fun time!

Come out to The Cactus Cafe to see The Howlin’ Brothers play with Wood & Wire tonight! Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.!
