The Mastersons 5.15.17

Eleanor Whitmore and Chris Masterson, the deft, texas raised husband and wife duo comprising The Mastersons, were made to be musicians. Whitmore, the child of an opera singer and a folk singer, was taught by the Texas swing legend Johnny Gimble to play the fiddle starting at the age of four and then continued her passion growing up playing in the family band. Masterson grew up learning from Blues legends Big Walter Price and T-Bone Walker then took the stage of Houston clubs at the age of only 13. After years of apprenticing with other musicians, like Regina Spektor and Jack Ingram, playing in others’ bands and putting out solo albums, the two finally decided to join forces. The Mastersons dropped by Studio 1A to play us a few tunes from their new album, Transient Lullaby, due out May 19th. The new release is their 3rd since signing on to play backup for Steve Earle in 2010. Take a listen to their session in the player at the bottom of this post.
