The Nightowls are becoming one of the soul staples here of Austin, Texas. This band, usually performing with around 10 pieces, has an outstanding cast of vocalists, horns and a killier rhythm section. Lead by Ryan Harkrider, the group’s mojo really got grooving in 2014, when they were first set to play ACL, perform as an official artist of SXSW and their record, “Good as Gold” received lots of critical attention. Since then, this group has really exploded with great opportunities in town, on tour and in studios including legendary Muscle Shoals & more recently, Royal Studios. Although the sound is deeply rooted in traditional soul and R&B, The Nightowls are able to blend a classic sound with a fresh take.
