Houston band The Tontons don’t have the spotlight they deserve just yet. But they do have a couple things: immense talent, a unique sound, and a very big fan in Houston rap legend Bun B. The rapper has been quoted calling them the “best band in Houston,” and many people agree with him. The band is difficult to classify, but it’s safe to say they reside somewhere along the pop/rock spectrum. Now where exactly they exist on the spectrum: that’s a moving target. The band can seemlessly shift into and/or combine anything from jazz-fueled indie rock to hook filled pop to even something vaguely and undefinably metal-like. It’s a sound that you need to experience yourself.
