Alynda Lee Segarra left school at 17, hopping trains and skipping from town to town in hopes of avoiding a ‘routine’ life. Mission accomplished. After winding her way to New Orleans and connecting with a group of local musicians, the singer/multi-instrumentalist mines folk music and a swampy Louisiana vibe to create a distinctive rootsy sound–one that’s attracted the attention of BBC Radio, the New York Times, and others. Hurray for the Riff Raff: definitely ‘One to Watch’ at SXSW 2013, according to the music pickers at KUTX Austin.
