KUTX Live at The Fairmont (cancelled)

FREE / OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Join KUTX on the 7th floor of the Fairmont Hotel on Friday, March 13, 2020, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. for a free live broadcast featuring some of Austin’s best SXSW performers and previous KUTX Artists of the Month. Parking is available at the Sabine entrance of the Fairmont Hotel garage on a first-come, first-served basis for $15 up to 3 hours and $25 for 3-6 hours.

*Though KUTX won’t be hosting a live broadcast at the Four Seasons during SXSW Music this year, stay tuned for news about collaborations later in 2020

 


SXSW Pop Up Sessions (cancelled)

Wednesday, March 18 – Friday, March 20 on KUTX.org

KUTX will be filming impromptu, stripped-down artist performances – both in a unique East Austin location and backstage at Willie Nelson’s annual Luck Reunion – and we’ll be sharing them on KUTX.org throughout SXSW.

Confucius and Fresh, hosts of KUTX’s hip-hop show The Breaks, have curated an official SXSW showcase featuring nothing but Austin hip-hop, soul and R&B acts.

KUTX, KXT, Radio Milwaukee and WFUV will present a special showcase and live radio broadcast from the SXSW Radio Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center. Tune in for the live broadcast from 2 to 6 p.m.

“This Song” Podcast Taping With Thao Nguyen (cancelled)

On KUTX’s This Song podcast, artists talk about the songs that formed their ideas about music and transformed the way they saw the world. The podcast is hosted by Elizabeth McQueen, who spent a decade of her life as a touring musician. During that time, she traveled the country and the world with her own band, as well as with the legendary Western Swing band Asleep at the Wheel. Her favorite moments were always before or after gigs when musicians would sit around and play each other the music they loved, and talk about why that loved it. Details here.

Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child – I Love Schoolhouse Rocks So Much (postponed)

KUTX’s Sunday-evening kids show, Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child, in conjunction with Live Mom, presents a kid-friendly music festival paying homage to Schoolhouse Rock, with a special tribute to Daniel Johnston. SXSW Wrap-Up Show (cancelled)

Sunday, March 22 / 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

It’s become an annual SXSW tradition – the Sunday after the conference, KUTX’s Jody Denberg and music journalist and Rolling Stone contributor David Fricke host our “SXSW Wrap Up Show.” At noon, the pair will be joined by Patty Griffin, who will play an hour of some of her favorite tunes.
