Tomorrow’s Warriors is one of the world’s premiere youth jazz development organizations. Based in London, the free program has bred the recent UK jazz surge. Alumni include Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchins, and Ezra Collective, all of whom touch down in Austin this week for SXSW. Music journalist Jeremy Steinberger journeyed to the Tomorrow’s Warriors headquarters at the Southbank Centre in London this past summer to interview Warriors founders Gary Crosby and Janine Irons. There he found out just how one organization could radically changed the face of an entire city’s jazz scene.
