Kevin Russell has lived within 200 miles of the Gulf Coast for most of his life. He grew up in Beaumont, got his start as a young musician in Louisiana biker bars, and has since become a mainstay on the Austin music scene as the frontman for The Gourds. Five years ago, feeling restless, he launched a side project called Shinyribs.
Producer Delaney Hall spoke with Shinyribs about his most recent album and how the Gulf Coast inspires his songwriting.
