Is C3 Presents Underpaying to Use Zilker for ACL Fest?

A debate has surfaced regarding the amount of money the Austin Parks department charges C3 Presents to use the space for the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Last year, the department received $1.4 million for the 6-day festival, which C3 Presents has been quick to point out that that does not take into account the substantial donations the company donates to the Austin Parks Foundation annually. That’s a fair point that is perhaps weakened by the fact that San Francisco charges $3 million for Outside Lands Fest, and Chicago rate to Lollapalooza is $4.4 million. Those people who feel strongly that C3 should be charged more say the issue isn’t about the amount itself, but the proportion of the amount compared to the role that Zilker plays in the city and the services that it provides to its residents and visitors.

Axl Rose Sends Cease and Desist to Google Over “Fat Memes”

Axl Rose has been catching a lot of buzz recently being asked to front AC/DC on their current tour with a Guns ‘n’ Roses tour embarking later this year. And while it seems like the 54-year-old singer has taken preparations for these tours quite seriously, with consistent reports that his voice is strong and a gallery of pictures documenting his significant weight loss since touring back in 2010, the re-surfacing of the Axl Rose fat memes has prompted the singer to send a cease and desist to Google demanding the removal of every image that pokes fun at his former weight. Not surprising to those of us who know how the Internet works and how cruel it can be, Google has been able to do basically nothing about it.

Frank Sinatra Production in the Works, Set for 2018

Frank Sinatra fans, get excited. A musical stage production of the life of Frank Sinatra is coming to life via the late singer’s family and the Ambassador Theatre Group. The production will be a jukebox musical, meaning the score will be made-up of previously released material; in this case, the catalogue of the Chairman of the Board himself. While no book writer has been picked, the team hopes the production will be ready by 2018.
