Aaron Lee Tasjan: “The Dangerous Kind”

Befitting his mercurial songs, Aaron Lee Tasjan’s list of collaborators is laughably bizarre: Sean Lennon, Ian McLagan, Pat Green, the New York Dolls, and more. The Nashville-based artist is known in music circles as an exceptional guitarist, but his debut full-length In The Blazes shows off his off-center songwriting. Out October 6, the record scans as rootsy on first listen, but your ear is quickly drawn to his one-liners: “The trouble with drinkin’ / is it ain’t no trouble at all;” “Jesus ain’t as popular as Facebook.” It’s no wonder he’s been opening for Ray Wylie Hubbard recently. The two share a sardonic sense of humor and a sense of danger.

Danger is the main concern in “The Dangerous Kind,” a bluesy shuffle that matches Tasjan’s quirk with his fiery lead guitar. Download the song below and catch Tasjan at the Cactus Cafe on Wednesday, September 9. Doors at 8 p.m.
