ACL Fest: Fri. Oct. 1

Michael Minasi

For this weekend and next, the Austin Music Minute‘s coverage of the Austin City Limits Festival will provide a short list of artist picks, as well as a few festival alternatives off the beaten path.

Today’s AMM gives you a head start for tomorrow, Friday Oct. 1 at Zilker Park:

-After you go say hello to KUTX’s The Breaks over at the Bonus Tracks Stage at 12:30 p.m., head over to the Lady Bird Stage for two killer performances. Darkbird blasts your face off at 1 p.m., followed by the crazy energy of Nané at 2:30 p.m. Last minute schedule change, but no worries. Twice as badass.

-Mad respect to a tried and true down-home Austin classic known round the world. Asleep at the Wheel plays the Honda Stage at 1 p.m. Fiddles on fire, friends.

-The enigmatic South Florida-based artist Q takes to the Tito’s Stage at 2:30 p.m.

-Zimbabwe-born artist Tkay Maidza gets you moving at 5 p.m. on the T-Mobile Stage.

-Badass hometown band Black Pumas (featured on today’s AMM) has a set at 6 p.m. on the Lady Bird Stage.

Chet Faker (a.k.a. Australian songwriter Nicholas James Murphy) plays at 7 p.m. on the Miller Lite Stage.

-A tip o’ the hat to a true gent, George Straight, performing at 8 p.m. on the Lady Bird Stage. (Someone please request “Fool Hearted Memory,” okay?)

Please check ACL Fest’s website for COVID safety protocol, and please remember to bring your mask.
