There’s no mincing words with this. Purple knows the party rock. They bring this tremendous energy to their shows, and blow your eardrums out at high decibels. It’s fun, it’s loud, and it’s rock ‘n’ roll. Punk is at the heart of what they do. But on their latest release, Bodacious, the Beaumont, TX garage rock trio takes it to another level by bringing more to the mix without confinement to a single genre. Rock and punk are definitely at the core, but Bodacious is a testament to their diverse musical influences, leaping from hip-hop to funk to pop to reggae, while keeping it all cohesive.
Purple is bringing their album release party to Austin tonight at the Swan Dive, 615 Red River, and they’ve invited Leopold & His Fiction, BUHU, and Buffalo Paws to keep the music going. DJ Bree Rose provides the late-night dance party spins after the live music. So good. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. Recommended.
