On the off chance you heard your Austin Music Minute maven raving over Mopac this week: Your humble host spoke of someone mentioning them and initially reacting with an alarmed, “AAAARRGH! NOOOO!” before being quite relieved to discover it was in reference to the band and not the Mopac that pushes drivers to the brink of insanity. True story, and yes, it’s a local band. And it gets even better; their debut release Kayfabe became an instant AMM fave upon first listen. No exaggeration. There’s something sweetly trippy and addictive about this hazy melodic psych rock.
