If you haven’t felt the overflow of love from the Austin Music Minute yet, or from KUTX, for that matter, I shall reiterate: Blitzen Trapper is badass. The proof is in their recent performance in Studio 1A, and the fact that they’ve had to make their shows a bit longer to include a lot of BT favorites for their fans.
The band explained to KUTX’s Matt Reilly that, along with all the new material from their latest release, VII, they’ve had to accommodate demands for previous material off their earlier releases. (Which brings me to this AMM geek-out moment, but…can you say “Black River Killer”? “Big Black Bird”? Wild Mountain Nation and Furr? Hellooo?!)
You need to hear it for yourself. See Blitzen Trapper tonight at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St. The night starts out with phenom Portland outfit the Alialujah Choir. Doors open at 8 p.m.
This one is so recommended that it hurts. Go.
