The sweet, sweet croon of “Ain’t A Day Goes By” is from the forthcoming release Ramblin’ Soul by Melissa Carper, which you’ve probably heard on KUTX recently. The new album is out Nov. 18, and from time to time, your AMM host brings out a few tunes from Carper’s 2021 release Daddy’s Country Gold, like “Makin’ Memories” and “I Almost Forgot About You.”
But did you know Carper is part of a much-loved musical trio, The Carper Family? The band got together in 2010 and played their first show at Hole In the Wall, with Carper on upright bass, Beth Chrisman on fiddle, Jenni Miori Hodges on guitar – and some of the best damn three-part harmonies around. Hear for yourself as The Carper Family continues their residency tomorrow, Tuesday Oct. 18, at Sagebrush, 5500 S. Congress Ave. The evening starts with a set by Jenny Parrot at 6:30 p.m., followed by The Carper Family at 8 p.m., and Silas Lowe at 10 p.m.
