Groovy Pathways

If a bit of shameless self-promotion can be tolerated for just a moment: You may already be aware of the fact that your humble Austin Music Minute maven is also hostess of one Good Music Club side project, where, most happily, there is constant musical discovery afoot. That being said, it’s not uncommon to be approached by local bands at the GMC, each of whom make inquiries and present their CDs for a listen. That is how I had the pleasure of stumbling upon local quartet Milezo with their (at the time) soon-to-be-released album, Pathways. And quite luckily for me. Get your own copy right now.

Milezo (pronounced MILE-zoh, thank you) features the talents of songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Miles Kelley; vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist Blair Robbin; bassist Max Colonna; and percussionist Sam Jordan. Together they’ve assembled that slice of pop heaven that is Pathways, bubbling over with fuzzy shoegaze and rich, darker psych textures, intertwining so many different tastes and tones that it’s immediately addictive, quite catchy. Chalk this one up as another gem.

You actually can get your own copy of Pathways at Milezo’s album release show tonight at The Scoot Inn, 1308 E. 4th St. at Navasota. And yes, the good peeps of local art and music promotional outfit Raw Paw inform me that the show will be indoors, so show-goers will be nice and toasty warm.

It’ll be pretty hot, actually, with the line-up on this party bill: The Zoltars, Kinky Machine and Corduroi. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the music starts at 9 p.m. Very recommended.
