Guidance

Songwriter and Lawrence, KS native Nathan Dixey made his Austin debut with his project, The Dan Ryan, and a 2012 self-titled EP of jangly, rich and rustic folk drifting across ethereal pathways. It carries an otherworldly shimmer, as does the follow-up LP, that reverberates with a psychedelic mood.

Dixey branches out even further with The Dan Ryan’s new release, Guidance, yet another gorgeous soundscape, this time greatly inspired by the power of protest songs. Backing band RF Shannon adds even more layers to the cosmic connectedness.

Tonight’s the night for The Dan Ryan’s album release show at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 901 Red River, and it’s a line-up made in Austin Music Minute heaven: Marijuana Sweet Tooth, Hospital Ships, Cowboy Crisis, Thor and Friends, and Julia Lucille. A major celebration, indeed. The music starts at 8:30 p.m. Recommended.
