More of the hot stuff for ya. Hot Luck Festival 2023 continues its Memorial Day weekend run today through Sunday, and in addition to all the delicious bites prepared by top chefs, the fest brings a lot of great live music to the experience, from local and touring artists.
- The big one on the AMM’s radar is the show tonight with Detroit garage rock fiends The Gories (thanks for the intro, Third Man Records) on a badass bill with Riverboat Gamblers and Gus Baldwin and The Sketch at Mohawk. If RG’s Mike Wiebe doesn’t bring down the rafters, The Gories’ set will.
- Tomorrow afternoon, Texas piano man Robert Ellis performs on Mohawk’s indoor stage, and at night, Frankie and The Witch Fingers are on the outdoor stage with Philly rockers Sheer Mag and ATX punk warriors Pleasure Venom. Tomorrow’s shows also include Tear Dungeon (is it “tear” or “tear” – and who mops up after the set?) at Hotel Vegas, and Lafayette band Vermillion Whiskey at The Coral Snake.
- Sunday’s shows include a day party with Jonathan Terrell and Country Worms at High Noon; The Ghost Wolves, Billy King and the Bad Bad Bad and Sam Pace at The Coral Snake; and Annabelle Chairlegs, Deezie Brown, and Sailor Poon storming Hotel Vegas.
Hot Luck, of course the food’s great, but the music’s fantastic. Chef’s kiss.
