The talent behind The Heavy Heavy is outstanding, so it’s no surprise that band leaders Georgie Fuller and Will Turner have a lifetime of musicianship behind them. Fuller’s experiences include performing at Montreux Jazz Festival as a teenager, while Turner undoubtedly connected to the contributions of his Malvern hometown musical predecessors Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. For their EP Life and Life Only, The Heavy Heavy drew from influences “deeply entrenched in our psyche,” says Turner – from British invasion-pop, to psych and acid rock. Yet their unique dynamic ushers in a refreshing energy surpassing mere imitation of their favorite music.
Expect The Heavy Heavy’s debut full-length album to come out next year. Meanwhile, they have three show dates in Austin: Tonight, Wednesday Oct. 19, and tomorrow, Thursday Oct. 20, at C-Boy’s Heart and Soul; and Friday Oct. 21 at The Continental Club. Tonight’s show at C-Boy’s includes a set by Je’Texas, and tomorrow includes Shooks and Psychic Love Child on the bill. Friday’s show features a performance by ATX duo Greyhounds.
