KUTX 98.9 has teamed up once again with the City of Austin Music and Entertainment Division to present Love Austin Music Month,. a celebration reminding all music lovers to support Austin musicians all year round. And you’ve got the AMM here to provide you with details about upcoming shows with local artists, of course! This includes a weekly musical residency of badasses at The Continental Club featuring two talented artists who also happen to be co-owners of Antone’s Record Shop, Eve Monsees and Mike Buck.
It makes sense that this meeting of the minds would click. Guitarist Monsees and drummer Buck both began playing their respective instruments at the ripe ol’ age of 12. Both got their start jamming/performing with greats like Gary Clark, Jr. and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, to name but a few. They founded their own band, Eve & The Exiles, in the early ‘oughts and made their official debut with the band’s self-titled release. And both play with a number of bands and artists, all while managing the shop. Truly Austin royalty.
Tonight, Monday Jan. 9, kick off the week with Texas roots rock courtesy of Monsees and Buck at The Continental Club, 1315 S. Congress Ave. It’s an early show that starts at 6:30 p.m. Stay up late for The Mellows at 10:30 p.m., and acoustic duo The Waymores at midnight.
