In these relentless pandemic times, livestreaming has been the way to go for many musicians worldwide. That’s exactly why Tacoma, WA-based artist Jesse Turcotte created the online venue Emergency Bandcast System, in efforts to continue support for musicians when an ongoing loss of gigs and venues makes it difficult, if not outright impossible, for them to perform.
This week, the EBS livestream puts the spotlight on fellow Tacoma artist Stephanie Anne Johnson and The Hidogs, who play at 9 p.m. (Central) tonight, Monday Dec. 28, on the Emergency Bandcast System website. There are links provided so you can show the artist some love, and the Austin Music Minute would also like to recommend visiting Johnson’s Bandcamp to check out the tracks “Highway” (featured on today’s AMM), “American Blues,” and the album Take This Love.
You’ll feel it especially on “Highway” – the strong pull toward the dark unknown. “…This highway is my home,” Johnson sings, as if pointing the way toward the direction all musicians are looking, when touring becomes a reality again.
