It seemed like bad news when it first broke. Cheer Up Charlie’s would no longer be on E. 6th St. The East Austin neighborhood fave announced that they had to vacate the premises. Fortunately, they were able to take over the space that previously housed the former Club DeVille on Red River, next to the Mohawk, so it’s not so bad after all. Time for a new home and new beginnings – and lots more live music shows for Cheer Up Charlie’s.
But, before it’s time to totally clear out, Cheer Up Charlie’s is getting in on the Free Week action – that special time of year when you, dear music lover, get to check out shows at participating venues for absolutely free. Tonight is another winner, starring Austin Minute Music fave KNIFIGHT, Neighbors, The Harms and Cautiontape. You still check in at the current location, 1104 E. 6th St. Doors open at 9 p.m. It’s all good. Recommended.
