Northern Lights

In 2013, Raina Rose released her fifth solo album, Caldera. One description that comes to mind: Simply breathtaking, Each song is a lovely work deeply connected to the beauty and mystique of nature, revealing something tranquil yet powerful in its presence. Not every songwriter is able to capture this kind of beauty in a song, but for Rose, it sounds and feels quite organic.

Rose has been in the studio preparing her forthcoming EP, Retrograde, and if the track “Northern Lights” (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute) is any indication, there is definitely more of this exquisite songwriting to look forward to. Chances are pretty good that you’ll hear some of the new music at Rose’s performance tonight at Strange Brew, 5326 Manchaca. It’s party of ComboPlate‘s Roster in the Round music series, with Nathan Hamilton and Curtis McMurtry sharing the bill. The show starts at 7 p.m. Recommended.
