David Shabani is, quite literally, bringing the sound to you.
If you’ve been following the journey of Shabani’s Smooth Sounds of the South West (and you should), you’ll know the Austin-based artist has taken his collaborative music series to various hot spots around town – Firehouse Lounge, Friends & Allies Brewing, Augustine in the Rainey St. district, and this week, Eastside fave Central Machine Works. It’s a showcase spreading the good sounds to as many ears as possible: Hip hop, soul, R&B and beyond, all going into the ultra-cool vibe, with guest artists on each bill, and even a surprise guest or two hopping on board for the ride.
Smooth Sounds continues tomorrow night, Saturday April 30, at CMW with rap artist/songwriter/producer Anastasia Hera. (Your AMM host has “Clarity” on repeat, thank you very much.) The music starts at 7 p.m. FYI – this is Smooth Sounds Vol. 5 of a 6-week stint, so don’t miss out.
