One of the great things about Tate Mayeux is his genuine admiration of fellow music artists. Your Austin Music Minute host has witnessed this first hand, from his work with Brian Broussard as the dynamic country duo Mayeux and Broussard, to his collaborative efforts with fellow Project ATX6 artists, and his ongoing support of bands and songwriters in the local scene. His musical tastes run the gamut, and that “Tater” enthusiasm is infectious. You’ll know him when you hear that distinctive holler at any given show: “Yaaheeeeeee!” Or…maybe instinctively, you’ll know he’s that tall feller in the hat with the big ol’ grin. Either way.
Mayeux is the mind behind the Tater Tuesdays residency at the Hard Luck Lounge, 3526 E. 7th St., a sort of extended family gathering where Tate rounds up his songwriter friends for an acoustic musical exchange, and tonight is another doozy. Joining Mayeux on the bill are Taylor Wilkins (Otis Wilkins, Otis the Destroyer), Evan Charles (Altamesa), Wil Cope, and Mateo Mares.
It’s a full night, love. The music starts at 8 p.m. Very recommended.
