Ahead of their new album’s summer release, POND is on the road.
There are undeniable summer vibes radiating from POND‘s “Neon River”, one of the singles off the forthcoming album Stung!. And the Kristofski-directed video makes it extra. What’s not to love?! Action-packed, swords, lightning, costuming that would be right at home where D&D meets ’70s metal/ren faire awesomeness – and vocalist Nick Allbrook‘s metallic pink pants. You go, Nick.
The new double LP from the Australian psych-rockers is out June 21, and judging from the energy of “Neon River” and a track about the damn lousy state of unrequited love, “(I’m) Stung” (“I got stung / But I ain’t infected…), the band had a blast putting this one together. “I wrote most of this while mowing someone’s lawn,” Allbrook says. And of “(I’m) Stung”: “It’s about being totally pathetically stung by someone and just having to be cool with it being unrequited. Being resilient, accepting that you are a bit of a goose, but life goes on.”
Don’t miss POND’s big show tomorrow, Tuesday May 7, on Mohawk‘s outdoor stage, with with Salt Lake City-based artist Erika Goodwin’s project 26Fix opening the show. Doors at 7 p.m. And on the inside stage, catch sets by Austin bands Geranium Drive, Walkabouts, and The Holy Temple. Doors for this line-up at 9 p.m.
