Who: I first had the pleasure of seeing the mad skills of Jonathan Doyle through previous performances with the White Ghost Shivers. You’ve heard your Austin Music Minute host brag about his musical talent before. The Austin-based clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and arranger spent quite a bit of time in New Orleans and Chicago, but moved here in 2004 to focus more on roots music and acoustic styles.
What: Usually, Doyle rocks the clarinet in the Jonathan Doyle Swingtet, but tonight he’s switching to alto saxophone, in addition to showcasing some new arrangements, at a show this evening.
When and where: Check them out tonight, 9:30 p.m to midnight, at the Sahara Lounge, 1413 Webberville Rd. Get there early to see the fabulous Datri Bean perform, starting at 8 p.m. Very recommended.
