Who: Austin-based artist David Ramirez doesn’t surround himself with too many things, sonically. He relies mostly on his guitar and his voice. And what a powerful voice, indeed – brave, unfiltered, unmasked. Genuine and sincere. Ramirez draws inspiration from the darkest depths and the brightest rays of light. It’s his fearless look at everything in life, bad and good, that has won him a growing legion of fans across the country. And while his sound is based in folk and roots music, you’ll find a number of influences at work.
What: Ramirez will soon head out to Seattle to work on his next album, and he’ll be on the road in April for a tour with Shakey Graves. But you do have a chance to see him before he goes!
When: Tonight at 8:30 p.m.; doors open at 8 p.m.
Where: The Cactus Cafe, at 24th and Guadalupe in the Texas Union, on the UT campus.
Why: You’re in for a wonderful and moving performance tonight. So recommended.
