Well Howdy

Howdy Gals are celebrating their first year anniversary this week – an entire year of curating some great live music bills that often put the spotlight on several Austin-based music artists. You know they’re fans. These are shows put together with a genuine love for the talent going into them.

So, what better way to celebrate their anniversary than with a big show? Duh! It’s Howdy Gals’ Birthday Fiesta, happening tomorrow night at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 901 Red River. And this is no small party: Eight bands in an entire line-up of Austin Music Minute favorites, including your AMM host’s demented, much beloved salad connoisseurs of sorts, Big Bill (featured on today’s AMM); the trio brandishing the most dangerous letter in the (DIY) Greek alphabet, XETAS. three-piece mathy/proggy masters Honey and Salt; the sparkle shredder gone Mad, Whit; true love nightmare come to life and ready for a bloody embrace, Being Dead; rangle-tangle jangly dark joy Chronophage; and ATX post-punk hoodlums with a new release of Demos out on Bandcamp, LATE; along with Chicago heavy psych-rockers Blue Dream.

Big show tomorrow with an early start, 7 p.m. And word on the street is…there will be birthday cake. Recommended.
