“Home Is Here” is an annual gathering of Austin musicians to support Casa Marianella, a local shelter for men, women, and children fleeing terror, torture, and political persecution in their home countries. Performers this year include David Garza, Gina Chavez, Bruce Robison, Real Bossa and Tekle Mezghebe.
Casa Marianella has been in Austin since 1986, starting with a single house and growing into a network of shelters providing safe refuge, legal support, medical assistance, and educational opportunities to thousands of people from countries such as Venezuela, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Russia. Casa helps them rebuild their lives and find a new place in the world. For many of them, home is here in Austin, Texas.
